Fishing Program

Participants will fish aboard premium technical poling skiffs specifically designed for shallow-water sight fishing.

Boats include:

  • Maverick
  • Hell’s Bay
  • Chittum

These boats range from 17–18 feet and offer exceptional shallow-water performance and casting platforms for sight fishing opportunities.

Target Species:

Depending on conditions, anglers may encounter

  • Bull Redfish
  • Black Drum
  • Sheepshead
  • Jack Crevalle
  • Alligator Gar

Typical Weather:

Fall and winter in Louisiana feature mild, humid, and highly unpredictable weather, transitioning from lingering summer heat into crisp, cool "gumbo weather". While the state generally stays above freezing, it occasionally experiences sharp, biting cold fronts from the north that can bring hard freezes and rare ice.

  • Morning temperatures in the 50s–60s
  • Afternoon temperatures in the 70s and occasionally low 80s
  • Potential wind and passing cold fronts

Layering your gear/clothing is highly recommended.

Equipment:

Fly Fishing

Anglers wishing to bring their own fly fishing equipment should bring:

  • 9–10 weight fly rods
  • Saltwater-capable large arbor reels with quality drag systems
  • Floating fly lines

For those who prefer not to travel with gear, our guides provide high-quality fly fishing equipment suitable for all target species.

Guides will also provide flies and terminal tackle.

Quality spinning tackle is available aboard each boat for anglers who prefer conventional equipment.
